In his 'smart travel companion' to Scrum (
A Pocket Guide) Gunther ends by reflecting upon ’The future state of Scrum’. Despite Scrum’s wide adoption, Gunther sees much room for improvement, of which he refers to the 2 major ones as “The Power of the Possible Product” and “Upstream Adoption”. The first refers to a cross-functional thinking that goes beyond the walls of the IT department through the enterprise and sees Scrum as a tool for business agility, not merely software delivery. The latter refers to the need of support and facilitation top-down for the bottom-up enthusiasm the generally exists over Scrum.
